The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. The Goals interconnect and in order to leave no one behind, it ís important that we achieve each Goal and target by 2030. (UN.org)
In a bid to achieve the global goals, Rebook Africa launched a project called TeachSDGs. This project is led by the project director – Folashade Babatunde and it is aimed at spreading the knowledge of the SDGs in local communities. It is our belief that what you don’t know, you can’t work towards. So we are using this project to bridge the SDGs knowledge gap in local communities across Africa.
We have since launched this project in Nigeria, and by this, we have staged series of SDGs hangout at Lagos State University, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, FUNAAB Muslim Alumni Association, and Olunde Community in Ibadan, Oyo State. At these hangouts, we gather young people who discuss the global goals and inspire themselves to take actions towards achieving them. We have reached out to over 250 young people and we look forward to reaching 3,000 young people at the end of 2019.
